BEACHES IN SRI LANKA
A vision of tropical bliss, Mirissa Beach boasts powdery pale sand, while its azure water is framed by an arc of coconut palms. The west side is the nicest and has the broadest expanse of sand; as the bay curves gently around to the east it meets up with the roar of the Galle–Matara Rd.
Unawatuna has an alluring crescent of sand, cafes overlooking the surf and perfectly blue waters luring you in. The impressive Rumassala Peace Pagoda and pretty Jungle Beach are just a 15-minute walk west of Unawatuna. Unawatuna is one of the calmest, safest swimming beach and is perfect for less confident swimmers and children.
A near-empty swath of golden sand backed by boutique hotels. The protected lagoon and river mouth of the Bentota Ganga make this an excellent area for water sports. It is also an emerging windsurfing centre. Boat journeys and catamaran trips along the Bentota Ganga are a peaceful, popular and bird-filled. Fishing is possible too.
Trincomalee's most famous beaches are at nearby Uppuveli and Nilaveli,Season falls from March to July. Manayaweli Cove is really good for swimming. Pigeon Island - on the Nilaveli beach, this island has great snorkeling and amazing beach.
